Hearty Cookies for Cats and Dogs

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups uncooked oats
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup broth

1. Ask an adult to set the oven to 350°.

2. Mix all the ingredients together in a medium-sized bowl.

3. Put flour on your hands. (This helps keep the dough from sticking to them.) Separate the dough into small pieces and form into biscuits. Use your imagination (or cookie cutters) to create any shape you like.

4. Spread some vegetable shortening or spray cooking spray inside a baking pan. Then arrange your biscuits in the pan. Leave some space between them, since they'll get bigger as they bake.

5. Have an adult put your biscuits in the oven. Bake them for 30 to 35 minutes.

Ingredients:
5 cups white flour
1/4 cup chopped peanuts
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 cup vegetable oil
2 cups mashed banana
2 teaspoons vanilla

1. Ask an adult to set the oven to 350°.

2. In a big bowl, stir together the flour, nuts, and baking soda. Add the rest of the ingredients to form a lumpy mixture. If needed, add water (one small spoonful at a time) to make the dough moist.

3. Using your hands, mix the dough well. Then roll it into logs 2 inches thick. Flatten the logs so they're about 6 inches wide and 1 inch high.

4. Arrange logs on a nonstick baking sheet and bake for 30 to 40 minutes.

5. Remove and cool for 10 minutes. Then cut the logs into slices 1/2 inch thick. Bake another 20 minutes until the biscotti are golden brown.
