Save the Date!

Thanks to Kayla Levasseur, August 19, 2006, became National Homeless Animals Day in Rhode Island. (Click here to read the official proclamation!) If you could issue a proclamation for animals, what would it be? Protect Pets Week? Save Endangered Species Month? Be Kind to Cows Day? Print this page out and write your idea, along with two reasons for choosing it, in the spaces.

Want to make your proclamation a reality? Once you've written it down, contact your city mayor, town council, or even your state governor. Explain what your proclamation is for and that you would like to meet with the mayor, town council, or governor to have it signed. Let local newspapers, radio stations, and TV stations know about your meeting—they may want to cover the event. Make posters and fliers to spread the word about your special day!

If you're successful in getting an official proclamation signed, let us know! Email kindnews@nahee.org or write to us at KIND News, 67 Norwich Essex Turnpike, East Haddam, CT 06423.
