I was inspired to help animals by my older brother, Michael. He held a birthday fundraiser to help endangered red pandas. I thought about doing a fundraiser for my birthday too. I decided to help SOS 4 Paws, a group that cares for feral cats in my town.

Instead of birthday presents, I asked for donations such as food, kitty litter, and toys for the cats. I collected about 171 cans of cat food, 60 pounds of dry cat food, 380 pounds of cat litter, and $75 in donations. I also donated $100 of my own birthday money.

Over the summer, my brother, my mom, and I volunteered at SOS 4 Paws every Tuesday. We cleaned cages and litter boxes, fed the kitties, and played with them. I loved volunteering at SOS 4 Paws because it was fun seeing all the kittens and being able to help them. It makes me sad to see that there are so many feral cats in the world. After you hear their stories, you just can't help donating your time to help them.

We adopted a young cat from SOS 4 Paws. We named him Cooper. Since we adopted Cooper there is one less feral cat in the world!
