Humane Heroes

Ashraya Ananthanarayanan
Collegeville, Pennsylvania

My school was taking a field trip to collect insects. I think it's wrong to take insects out of their habitats. So, with permission from my principal, I instead visited the Jenkins Arboretum.

I observed insects in their natural environment and wrote a report. My classmates said they really learned more from the book report than on the actual trip to collect insects. My teacher says she will use the report for next year's second grade class! I learned never to feel shy to speak up for animals who cannot speak for themselves.

Teach people to appreciate all life around them!
