Oil Spill Update

The oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is affecting animals large and small. Watch the video to see what people are doing to help wildlife and wildlands.

At the Fort Jackson Oiled Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Louisiana, pelicans are among the birds being treated.

Oil-covered pelicans wait to be cleaned.
Here, a pelican is in the rinsing stage of the cleaning process.
Once clean and oil-free, the pelicans are monitored to make sure they're healthy before being released back into the wild.

Wild animals are not the only victims of the oil spill. See how we're helping pets and their families too.
